Tzolkin Count of Days

Tzolkin Trecena Notes – 1 Cauac (Storm/Rain)

Day 79 of the 260 Day Tzolkin
Gregorian Date: April 23, 2016
Year Bearer:  4 Earth (Caban)

Trecenas are thirteen-day periods in the Tzolkin. Each Trecena starts with the Number 1, but with a different Day Glyph. As a wave of the Thirteen Heavens, the underlying energy is governed by the First Day Glyph of the Trecena and influences all thirteen successive Day Glyphs. Being aware of the predominant energy of the First Day of the Trecena, we can align our intentions with that energy and allow our goals to manifest.

This Trecena starts with 1 Cauac (Storm/Rain) – purification, activation, dynamic force, healing, nourishment, compassion, gathering energies within.

Tempestuous energies, emotional energies, the storm gathers within. Separate thinking and emotions from awareness. Watch the storm wash away the ego, allowing room for the new consciousness.

Last night was the first seriously good thunderstorm of this year, complete with incredibly active skies filled with lightening everywhere and going every which way. The thunder was equally as intense with sometimes a single one going on and on and on across the full stretch of the sky. And of course the rain came in on the muchly scale, as well – everything was well watered.  It could possibly even open up the springs and quebradas a little bit, but truly to be totally good, it needs to keep raining – like at least a few times a week from now on.  Our ‘perfect season’ has been June-August, warm and clear mornings with afternoon – night showers. Something tells me that things have changed, and not in a small way.

The jungle is not a place that everyone finds comfortable to live in, but it does have a way of ‘growing’ on you, figuratively and literally. Where we live it is hot and humid, and the terrain is steep and thick and wild. What it takes to keep a small space carved out within it to do any kind of homesteading is no small feat.  Where we are living we have downsized radically from the space that we had previously maintained here; last year at this time we had an abundance of food growing and a good buffer zone from the jungle and its brethren, for a couple of years.  A much smaller space now and the buffer zone doesn’t buffer out too much, since we are for the most part still packed up in boxes and keeping our eyes open for the spot we shall be ushered into next –  soon, I hope.

This wild zone has brought this world of jungle not only to our doorstep, but inside the house as well.  Most non-natural jungle dwellers (the human kind) have to maintain a pretty good sized outdoor space that is cleared and chopped regularly, i.e opened up, around them.  I agree to this, but since ‘the downsize’ it seems that basically we have become one with the jungle.   As I mentioned in an earlier post, living this intimately with the Mother allows one to hear her voice and subsequent messages through the activities and voices surrounding us, and it’s still talking up a storm (oops, did I just say that?).  In fact I cannot remember so much jungle talk!  The birds have been everywhere and so many different kinds and so very much in our personal space.  The Ahni, which is a black bird in the cuckoo family, they sing a beautiful tropical song and really they are quite common, have not lived or even visited our space before…there was an entire group of them here this morning. And I could hear a couple of parrots – they must be of a large variety by the sound, and for sure they were not macaws…but parrots have a distinct noisy voice, small and large alike. These birds I have not heard here before. Groups of small parrots flying together can wake the dead with their noisiness, and Macaws have had many a curse thrown in their direction by non-appreciative humans – they are loud and very distinct. These were no doubt large parrots visiting, I wish I had seen them! Noisy is also a label that goes for the Congo Monkeys (Howlers) as well, some folks complain about their ‘noise’ early in the morning, too. But for me, I love all of their music and listen carefully.  Beats the heck out of city noise! Anyday.

Bottom line, things are very different and the bird population definitely exemplifies this.  And the bug population, too, sigh.  Lots of no-see-ums recently. But then as we experience this life here on the edge of the vast and deep jungle in a powerful water canyon and the incredible intimate connection in living with it, our vision for our own personal space requests more space that is not entirely consumed by the jungle – naturally.  There is a zone just up the coast from us that is a very nice combination of more open ground, more mountainous and less steep ground – excellent horse country – that we have our eyes on. Most certainly the animal population will be quite different there, we do not know how yet, but it is very unpopulated so it will have its own family of local residents: flora, fauna and human.  However this too is shifting, as are all things in this world we are experiencing right now. It wouldn’t matter where you are or are headed, it is becoming different in many ways than what it was.

In the past week it seems that the Mother has stirred more than ‘normal’, if there is such a thing as ‘normal’ anymore. In my mind there is a spirit that is a great power within the earth…a part of/an aspect of… I see this spirit as a most elegant and regal dragon – she is beautiful! She wears a coat of luminescent colors – pearls to blues and lavenders and rose. Her features are sharp and wise. Her gaze is deep and penetrating, her wings elegant and powerful. Her great Being stirs within the depths of the mother and she breathes deeply…and her exhale has just more than enough fire in it that it needs a place to vent.  She adjusts her great magnificent Self and the earth’s ‘skin’ rolls and moves in response. The dragon is seen from many perspectives, yet with many overlapping energies or purposes.images (5) images (8) images (6) Her sister  Pele also speaks along with her during these very active times of upheaval. Together their fire and power is huge. Did I mention that currently there are forty active volcanoes on the planet?

There are also the great Wakinyan, the Thunder Beings of the sky as they are called by Lakota – the Thunderbird…images (14) images (20)

this is the great spirit essence in the storms, the thunder and the lightening, the tornados, floods and all of it. The raw power, strength and sometimes fury they release – yet also nourishing and replenishing as well in the much needed rain. All of these great beings are moving and fluffing their wings a bit…a great shifting…a stirring so great that everyone is feeling it, in its’ subtlety and in its’ fullness.  A great exhale from these great Beings, aspects and essences of the Mother.

The lone howler is still in close range, obviously he is still alone. All of them are howling in the day. We have had a few sporadic and very much needed rains in the past couple of weeks, but the lagunas and quebradas are still dry. Last night’s rain was magic and so appreciated! The heat is still intense, although we have had a little bit of respite at different times. Sweating all night isn’t fun, in my opinion. And the critters are on the move – from seeing three very large snakes in the middle of the day – the heat, and each in the middle of the road (quite unusual) to having two very new baby snakes in our personal space – a coral snake in the house,

coral snake - baby
coral snake – baby

but a non-venomous version (gracias a Dios) and a vine snake out in front of the door. Hmmmmm….. And lots of scorpions and spiders. Two horse maladies, different places, a spider bite on a fetlock causing some pain and swelling; and our dear Chuck has a very swollen junk package (ouch!). An abundance of bees and wasps, all aggravated. Extreme attention and care is very important right now.

Ecuador. Earthquake in the exact area we once visited and very seriously considered moving there…now in crumbles – we chose here instead.  This house is slowly sliding off of the hillside it was built upon. The cement foundation is cracked and crumbling; the tile is cracking and breaking; the cement walls are pulling apart; the doors do not fit anymore; the roof tiles (inside) are popping open…yikes!  This is an interesting situation, as all it would take is a good earthquake and we will see more serious shifting beneath our feet. Insult to injury – or in this case, the other way around. But what can you do? It is overdue and could happen anytime, the stress on our four plates merging (and big time shifting) is undeniably intense.

Five planets/asteroids in retrograde plus the north node and Mercury goes retro April 28.  A friend asked me yesterday, “And what does this mean?” A whole bunch of review and confusion and perhaps some stuck in the mud sortin’ it out kind of stuff (good God, is it ever enough?). Several issues open for discussion in any one’s life, resolution time for some persistent (unresolved and very deep) karmic issues. Slow down baby don’t you move so fast.  Maybe some drama, too – and given that the earth is now joining the party, go figure that one! Hey, let’s invite Father Sun, too!  Guess what? Big activity happening there with all kinds of huge plasma blasts – which in turn have a little bit of influence on sleeping dragons and Wakinyan. I find it quite interesting that April 23, 2016 began the next Tzolkin Trecena (Mayan Calender) with 1 Cauac (Rain/storm) – setting the energies for the next 13 days.  Earthspeak on many levels, yeah?

Oh my. Well, bringing it home for us is keeping the snakes out of the house, get ready to run really fast in the event of a big earthquake (note to self: meditation for protection around personal space vigil); make more herbal creams to deal with the bug bites and heat rash, and conserve on water. Que mas? Immerse into the negative ionic healing of the oceans waves and running water in the river and meditate. Take naps. Eat accordingly, as needed. Trust in God – but tie your horse. Do your internal work; this is where the answers are. Lots of Ho’o ponopono. One thing for sure is that each of us shall emerge from the other side of whatever manifests as very different individuals.

The critters are definitely all talking, it’s all happening at the zoo; we are without a doubt on Mr Toad’s Wild Ride now! And now that we got the big message from the Wakinyan last night – the mosquitoes are humming in my ear during the night (good grief) and the frogs have begun to sing. Everyone has something to say! Including each of us. Don’t forget to enjoy this Journey as much as possible, we must see the humor within and for our healing.  Being happy is at the top of the list – it is up to you to choose it. Life is muy loco, an adventure for us all – keep the balance.

Transition unfolding:  Now here. No holds barred – all bets are off, anything is possible.

Living a very simple reclusive and self sustaining life way out in the jungle with my husband, growing as much food and medicinal plants as possible, I find my freedom and sanctuary in the amazing and spectacular array of life that surrounds me, gifts of Gaia, most especially while traveling around on my horse.
