WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE: A DAY IN MY LIFE

This sounded like a fun challenge to take head on, and since every day is different for us – there is no ‘normal, typical or routine’ about our days, the spontaneity of it grabbed me by the ear and said, ‘go get your camera…’.  And the day being a Saturday, what a great opportunity to share ‘market day on the coast’!  We had not gone for awhile and our freezer was getting low, so this is how the day proceeded…DSC_0166           …a cup of java on the deck with the kitties to welcome the day.

DSC_0168  …a quick check on the computer before we get going…

DSC_0690…so we head on down the road for our Saturday outing, despite the fact that because this is Easter weekend EVERYBODY AND THEIR ENTIRE FAMILY would be on the road…

DSC_0037…a quick hello to my horses along the way…

DSC_0171…and a quick hello to the neighbor’s horse, that Mate would seriously like to have as his own noble steed, however time will tell…

DSC_1045 DSC_1047 DSC_1048        …to the coastal ‘feria’, or farmer’s market, whee we stock up on a few vegies, some very fresh fish to replenish our supplies, and a couple of home grown organic chickens (soon we hope to raising all of the above ourselves, and catching the fish will be a ‘one day soon’ adventure), but for now, this will do.

DSC_1052…this is what families do on the beaches here, especially on the holidays, such a pleasure to watch!

DSC_0173…a quick stop at the small village mercado for a few especial items that go with fresh fish…                             DSC_0174…the rio as it dumps into the ocean, a pause as we wait to go through the policia check…

DSC_0176…the fruteria along the camino for a couple of items…

DSC_0177…everything is for sale here, everything…and then some…

DSC_0178…and a quick stop at the local super to pay the bill (gracias Dios para dinero)

On the way back up the mountain, a quick stop at the river to cool our feet and bodies, it is WAY HOT right now!  See the fishes cleaning my foot?

DSC_0187…oooh, look at those mandarinas!  they are perfect for the ceviche…

DSC_0189 DSC_0188DSC_0191…the daily score from the market, the freezer is filled once again, prawns and ahi for dinner, and ceviche and pollo manana…DSC_0190 DSC_0193

DSC_0596roware there any scraps or tidbits for me-ow?

DSC_0194 DSC_0195Oh look, an abundance of ripe chilies –  DSC_0196-and there is time for a quick study break (practico mucho!  muy importante).

DSC_0198 DSC_0197…getting late, time to go back to work…

DSC_0205Go figure!  the propane ran out and it has to be switched before bed, the frig won’t last overnight and the prawns aren’t done.  Thing is, we have to find the adapter for this little bottle (Mate always has backup)…I know it’s here somewhere…

The Blessing for our day DSC_0199

The rewards of our day’s vigil!  and many more meals to go.  I consider this to be my

‘birthday dinner’                                 DSC_0202DSC_0203

even though it is almost a week away – time is irrevelant, don’t you think?  Today, tomorrow, next week – whatever.  Enjoy Now, the true Present.

Ahhhh, yes – full bellies, full freezer, dinner already together for a few days…what a wonderful day!  Thank you for the abundance, it is most appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed!
